There’s something about a sunny day that makes Sticky Betty wants to eat her breakfast
outside. This is recipe lets you hold the plate in one hand and a spoon or fork in the other so
there’s no need for tables or trays.
Ingredients (for 2 people)
2 eggs; 6 slices of bread; sunflower oil; raspberries, strawberries or blueberries; castor sugar;
vanilla essence.
Method
1 Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add half a teaspoon of vanilla essence and beat again.
2 Cut each slice of bread into 4 – either squares or triangles.
3 Heat a little oil in a frying pan. Drop the pieces of bread in the egg mixture and make sure both
sides of bread are covered in egg. Place the pieces in the frying pan – depending on the size of
your frying pan, you’ll be able to cook 4 or 6 at the same time.
4 Turn the pieces of bread after a couple of minutes and when both sides are golden brown,
remove from frying pan. Put on a plate and immediately sprinkle with castor sugar.
5 When all the bread is cooked, scatter raspberries or other fruit over the plate.
6 Sticky Betty says before you go outside to enjoy breakfast, make sure the cooker is switched
off and the frying pan is cooling down somewhere safe.
