Affordable Food, Support and Well-being for Communities

This Is Baobab

The first community pantries opened in October 2020 as part of a pilot project with Reach Rural Development. The network of pantries grew rapidly in response to demand. In September 2021, we began to work in partnership with Linc Cymru and were awarded funding via the Welsh Government in relation to the European Transition Fund 2021 to 2022 – Tackling Food Poverty and Addressing Food Insecurity. With the help of this funding, wellbeing cafes were introduced in some Community Pantries, with volunteers signposting clients to a variety of partners who can offer support. Partners began to attend the Community Pantries to offer support. At the same time, a Community Interest Company, ‘Baobab Bach’ was formed to further develop the Community Pantry network into the future.

Need a Hand Making Your Money Go Further?

We Are Here to Help!

Baobab Bach was set-up with support in mind. Our Community Pantries offer signposting, support, a cuppa and a friendly chat as well as a bag of affordable food. Anyone can use our pantries – there is no means testing. We know that everyone struggles to make ends meet sometimes, so let us help you. Best of all – we re-distribute surplus foods that would otherwise go to landfill – so we are helping the planet together.
