About
BronFair Allotment
The growing project at BronFair Allotments is located in Garth, in the Llynfi Valley, on a double allotment plot that has become one of our main growing spaces. Over the past year, the site has produced a large amount of fresh fruit and vegetables for our pantries and kitchen, helping provide healthy, locally grown food for the community.
The allotment includes nine large raised beds, a small polytunnel and a larger polytunnel currently being erected. This extra growing space will help us increase production and extend the growing season, allowing us to grow more food for longer throughout the year.
Sustainability is a key part of the project. The site has a rainwater collection system, and we are putting measures in place to encourage hedgehogs as a natural form of pest control. A pond has also been created to attract wildlife and help improve drainage, supporting a healthier and more biodiverse growing environment.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand the growing area further, improve the pathways across the site and continue increasing biodiversity. We are also exploring the possibility of growing traditional spices and plants that can be used in heritage crafts, linking the allotment to wider conversations about food, culture and traditional skills.
BronFair Allotments is not just a place where food is grown. It is a space for learning, sharing and working together – a place where volunteers can get involved, connect with nature and play a hands-on role in supporting the local community.
